Sony, Rootkits and Digital Rights Management Gone Too Far

Very interesting.
How far will Sony and other record companies go to protect your purchased content?
Seems that they are using black-hat like techniques to install a rootkit to protect their content.
Not good not good at all.
The record companies are killing themselves.
When will they learn?

A few sites are reporting this today, including F-Secure and other site. I found this story to be the most informative of the bunch.

-----Update-----
Looks as Sony has read a few articles on the net.
They have posted an update to the DRM software found on some of their audio CDs
(The power of the Internet voice!)
November 2, 2005 - This Service Pack removes the cloaking technology component that has been recently discussed in a number of articles published regarding the XCP Technology used on SONY BMG content protected CDs. This component is not malicious and does not compromise security. However to alleviate any concerns that users may have about the program posing potential security vulnerabilities, this update has been released to enable users to remove this component from their computers
