Apple Shuffle Nirvana

It is strange when one achieves Apple Shuffle Nirvana. You my ask yourself what is Apple Shuffle Nirvana?
Apple Shuffle Nirvana is when one sets his or her iPod to randomly shuffle their music. The way to achieve Shuffle Nirvana can be hard for some. There are varying elements that can affect if one is able to achieve Shuffle Nirvana. One must first have an iPod loaded with good music. The key is to have a variety of music you find good and enjoyable. I found that having all time favorite albums that have a solid run of music on them. A second good source is compilation albums and soundtracks. This is to insure that you have a variety of music that is easily good music to whichever taste you may have. Shuffle Nirvana is obtained when your iPod randomly choices music that has a good flow but is varying. It is sort of a soundtrack of your day. Better yet you can experience more then one soundtrack to your day. The Nirvana happens when this soundtrack falls into sink with whatever you are doing, and or what ever mood you are in. It is truly a pleasing thing to experience.

It is becoming harder and harder to find an album that is good and consistent through. As of late this is becoming harder and harder to achieve. One reason for this is that record companies keep seeking bands that can make singles and not music. Due to this movement of bands only being able to create one or two solid songs, that are usually formulaic singles. The Apple Music Store is a good example as it is slowly changing how people listen and purchase music. No longer does one need to purchase an entire album that may have one or two at most good songs. A listener of a particular band can pick and choose these few good songs and ignore the rest and not have to waste $13 or more. That is why it is vital to find good albums and or compilations and soundtrack CDs to load onto your iPod.

I would really like to learn how the iPod OS picks songs to shuffle. I've tried searching the net and have not come up with any results yet. It boggles my mind how a database of good songs and some bits of data that creates an algorithm can create such a pleasing experience. Its like the best random mix tape one can achieve. It would be cool if you could tweak or hack the iPod OS to change how it shuffles your library.

VG Cats -186- Conthpiracy Thewy

Yet, another Animal Crossing comic strip. I like the comics Scott Ramsoomair does!
I've linked previous Animal Crossing strips from VG Cats.

This comic is about the origins of Gyroids in Animal Crossing
Pretty funny if you play the game.

Castle of love

Mood lighting. Candles. Flowers. Romantic music. A sackful of Slyders.
White Castle wants couples who love little burgers as much as each other to share Valentine's Day romance over a bag of belly bombs. They're even taking reservations.

Kick ass! Valentines Day Dinner at White Castle!
Oh I dream of White Castle to open back up in the Kansas City area!

"Smashing Pumpkins set to reform for festivals - Live dates this year looking more likely"

Could this be true?
Billy has been hinting on Myspace that he is about to announce big plans.
Is the whole band coming back? I heard Jason on 90?s At Noon talking about this.
Who knows?

The Coachella website has not announced the line up yet, even though tickets are already on sale.
Big big news, or just a rumor? Lets keep our fingers crossed!

VF Corporation: Our Brands

It amazes me why the retailer I work for refuses to carry brands that are directly related to their retail sector of choice.
I found that VF Corporation is the Company behind some of the brands that they refuse to carry. The interesting side is that we carry particular brands that are owned by this company while on the other had we refuse to carry other brands. For example the much beloveded Wrangler brand name is owned by VF Corporation while the much hated The North Face brand name is owned by VF Corporation as well.

On a side note, Moutain Hardware is owned by Columbia Sportswear.

Honda (UK) Civic

Why is it that other countries other than the US get better Honda commercials?
Plus better looking Civics?

Anyways this is a cool video of a choir making noise affects that resemble how the new Civic sounds.
Click WATCH CIVIC on the Civic website to see the video.

NookBay : Animal Crossing Wild World Auctions : Nintendo DS

Way cool!

A bidding site for Animal Crossing DS items!
I really need to get a Wi-Fi connector now!

Apple, Intel TV Ads

Saw this over at the Engadget site.
Poor Apple...
Funny commercial though! I think Apple should have made a bold jump and used AMD chips or fab their own for once, as Apple says "imagine the possibilities."

Side note The Postal Service Such Great Heights video looks to be the same video. Sad if Apple or the director ripped this to make their commercial.

Nintendo DS redesign coming Jan. 16th?

Again Damn you Nintendo.
Why do they keep doing this to their customers?
Nintendo keeps kicking their customers in the side.
A DS redesign is way to soon! Your going to kill the system yourself if your not careful. I hope the screenshot is a mockup! I don't want to see Apple DS knockoffs floating around!

Nintendo Revolution - First screenshots and classic launch games.

These images and info on potential launch games were obtained from a marketing survey on 01/10/2005.
As has been mentioned elsewhere, these shots are almost certainly "mock-ups" created for the
purpose of the survey

Not sure how real this is. Publications such as IGN claim this was a survey conducted by Zanthus company for Nintendo. Why didn't Nintendo directly survey their customers?
I now see why the new Animal Crossing is missing the beloved NES games. :( Same reason the Zelda Collection disc for the Gamecube did not contain the SNES Zelda A Link To The Past game. Damn you Nintendo.

Vast drum machine built from 8 Famicoms

Music Thing has a link up of a kick ass creation using Famicom (Japanses NES) Controllers as the projects bases. This is a pretty elaborate hack integrating the controllers with a Roland 606 Drum Machine. The hack was organized and built by a guy that is currently working on the 6955 Project. The 6955 Project seems to be a guy interested in creating Famicom aka NES based music. This link is actually kind of weird in a way. April and I were talking last night how it would be cool to have a device that would create music renaissance of NES games. The whole discussion started with April's Mario themed ringtone. I want a ringtone with battle music or dudgeon music from Super Mario Brothers.
I think it would be cool to have a device that could randomly generate new songs based on the NES soundchip. Now that?s a project I would set out to achieve!

Google Maps Mania

A comprehensive Blog of Google Map Mashups
I heard this on NPR yesterday on the way to work.
Pretty neat!
I particularly like the drill through the earth mashup, not much use but interesting.

andym's Projects -> Radio Babylon

What is it?
A small wireless battery powered device. Turn it on near a friendly wireless network that contains iTunes shares and plug your headphones in. It picks a random iTunes share, picks a random tune and starts playing. Repeat until bored or the batteries are dead.

This would be a cool thing to make and hookup out at the apartment. Too bad everyone listens to shitty music out at the apartment.

Looks can be deceiving. Take the Honda Fit, our all-new 5-door set for release in the spring of 2006. One glance at this impetuous, bite-sized wonder and you just might think, "The Fit is Go!" Well, you'd be right of course. But with the Fit, there's so much more.

New Honda Fit to come to America next year. We hope that Honda takes this car back to their roots! As every other Honda here in America has been straying from their heritage for the past 5 years or so.
It has a pretty cool seat layout that can be changed five different arrangements. The following is Refresh Mode where the seats become a lounge chair allowing the occupants to stretch out. Other modes can be found at www.fit.honda.com

This might be a new car I might have to get.

Honda Sweeps 'North American Car and Truck of the Year' Awards

The 2006 Honda Civic and Honda Ridgeline have earned the prestigious 2006 "North American Car of the Year" and "North American Truck of the Year" awards respectively, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. This marks the first time ever that a single brand has won both awards in the same year, and it marks Honda's first win in either category.

Good to see the Civic back on top! To bad they have made the car a tad too big for my taste. I also find it amusing that the Ridgeline is "North American Truck of The Year" who knew Honda could make a truck?

Apple - MacBook Pro - Intel Core Duo

New Intel Macs
You?ve seen improvements in notebook performance before ? but never on this scale. The Intel Core Duo powering MacBook Pro is actually two processors built into a single chip. This, combined with myriad other engineering leaps, boosts performance up to four times higher than the PowerBook G4. With this awesome power, it?s a breeze to render complex 3D models, enjoy smooth playback of 1080p HD video, or host a four-way video conference.

Way too expensive $1,999.00 1.67GHZ.
Apple is still missing the point if they want people to switch.
Granted for a high end windows laptop that?s about what you would pay.

Electroplankton

Only from Nintendo
I'm glad the game is getting an US release. The wonders of Nintendo and their software.
I hope to pick this up, too bad the US version isn't being released with headphones.

Optical Mouse cam

Cheap scanner from optical mouse.

I've always wondered about doing this myself. Well Jeroen has figured out how to create a simple scanner from an optical mouse. Some hardware hacking is required, as you have to rewire the pin outs to connect the mouse to a serial port and download the appropriate software.
Seems kind of nifty. I could make some cool computer graphics from using this technique.

Optimus keyboard

Check out this keyboard!
Drooooool!
I want one really bad! I wonder how the key feedback is?
I miss my old IBM keyboard :( My sister killed it by spilling a drink on it.
Apple is probably thinking "Why didn't we think of this?"

Nearly 100, LSD's Father Ponders His 'Problem Child'

But Mr. Hofmann calls LSD "medicine for the soul" and is frustrated by the worldwide prohibition that has pushed it underground. "It was used very successfully for 10 years in psychoanalysis," he said, adding that the drug was hijacked by the youth movement of the 1960's and then demonized by the establishment that the movement opposed. He said LSD could be dangerous and called its distribution by Timothy Leary and others "a crime."
The inventor of LSD is 100 yrs old.
That?s great.
Not that I'm in that sort of thing. It?s just interesting that the inventor of such a controversial substance is still alive today. I had no idea that the substance had origins from the 1938. I assumed it was much more recent.

Conceptual Artist as Vandal: Walk Tall and Carry a Little Hammer (or Ax)

Defacement of the Duchamp's Fountain by performance artist (if you can call it that?) Pierre Pinoncelli. Pierre has defaced the work before by urinating in it in 1993.
Art by the destruction of another?s person art?

Crazy night

Wow what a night.
I wish that sort of situation would never come about. I am glad for everyone?s safety.
I wish there is something I could do, but when someone is not willing to listen in what you offer nothing good can happen. I say an extra prayer! I?m glad everyone is OK. It saddens me when someone is so dependent on stimulate that is not going to make things better but further perpetuate things.
On a good note, I thank April for the kick ASS Birthday presents! I wish April good luck at her new job!.

Google to sell video, take on Apple; announces Google Pack

Tomorrow Google will announce a new commercial video download service, according to multiple sources. The service, which will be an addition to Google's Video Search, will allow users to buy video content for pre-determined prices, and the company is expected to announce partnerships with the likes of CBS and the NBA.

Is Google trying to do to many things at one time? Maybe so. Is Gmail and many other services ever going to released from beta status? Maybe never.
I also don't like the Goolge Pack. Google branded software all over my computer. Not cool.
I guess we will see how each are once they come out. Google Video idea seems sketchy at best.
When will Google learn?

NINTENDO'S HAND-HELD SYSTEMS BUCK THE HOLIDAY TREND

Sales figures show that Nintendo's dual-screened Nintendo DS?, fueled by hit software and new global Wi-Fi capability, has sold approximately 4 million units to date in North America alone.

All around the world, players have been competing on the new Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection wireless gaming service. Within seven weeks of the service launch more than 10 million game connections have been made and more than 550,000 unique visitors have connected globally.

Appears that the DS is doing pretty damn well! I hope it can keep up with its success. They need to pump out some good software for it! I'm hoping we will sometime this year see the rumored PDA software called V-Pocket.
