Spring Semester

Spring semester is almost over.

"So here I am
doing everything I can
holding on to what I am
pretending I'm a superman
I'm trying to keep
the ground on my feet
it seems the world's
falling down around me
the nights are all long
I'm singing this song
to try and make the answers
more than maybe

And I'm so confused
about what to do
sometimes I want
to throw it all away

So here I am
growing older all the time
looking older all the time
feeling younger in my mind
And here I am
doing everything I can
holding on to what I am
pretending I'm a superman

I'm trying to sleep
I lost count of sheep
my mind is racing faster
every minute
what could I do more
yeah I'm really not sure
I know I'm running circles
but I can't quit

And I'm so confused
about what to do
sometimes I want to
throw it all away

Controlling everything in site
I'm feeling weak
I don't feel right
you're telling me
I have to change
telling me to act my age
but if all that I can do
is just sit and watch time go
then I'll have to say good bye
life's too short to watch it fly
watch it fly

So here I am
growing older all the time
looking older all the time
feeling younger in my mind
And here I am
doing everything I can
holding on to what I am
pretending I'm a superman "

Revolution has a new name!

"While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.
Wii will break down that wall that separates videogame players from everybody else.
Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.
Because it's really not about you or me.
It's about Wii.
And together, Wii will change everything."

A interesting turn for the Revolution and it?s fate. The Revolution was headed down such a great path! Free of any N64/Gamecube era blunders. Yes, the controller is a huge step that could make or break the console. But, the name, what is Nintendo thinking? I like the play with the logo and the ii's and linking the name to the experience. It's not going to work. This could have officially killed the Revolution before it is even finalized. When will Nintendo get back to it's roots and make something genuine and kick ass!? Maybe they will receive such a backlash, and reconsider. I am still getting one though, I hope I have extra cash at launch to pick one up.

SMASHING PUMPKINS

"It's official, The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 2000. no release date has yet been set, but the band plans to begin recording this summer."

I can't wait!
There was a reason April and I sat on the porch Wed. night and listened to Smashing Pumpkins. Was it a sigh when Lazo played I Am One yesterday on the Buzz!

Pictures of DS Download Station Internals

"So this past Sunday my wife and I were perusing our Sunday paper with our adult beverage of strong-ass 8 o'clock coffee when my wife pulls out the Best Buy circular. To my surprise I hear her exclaim "DS Download Stations now at all Best Buy locations."

Looking at our DS units stored permenantly on the living room coffee table (one pink and one silver) our goal became clear: we must storm our local Best Buy with the intent to seek out a possible DS Download center and test out Brain Age. Our level of success was not guaranteed to be 100% since the ad also specified oxymorinically "May not be available at all locations." but we had to try.

We stopped at a few locations first since we had a full day's worth of errands to run, but soon we arrived at our Best Buy to find our trek was not in vain. Tucked neatly away into the Gamecube display was none other than the DS Download Station of lore complete with demos for Brain Age, Mario Kart DS, and a demo video for Metroid Prime. I (being the foolish absent-minded person that I am) of course left the house without my DS so while my wife was busily gagueing her brain's age I began my inspection of the station itself."

I've been needing to go to Best Buy and checking one of these DS Download Sations!
Seems as Team Hack A Day was able to get some pics of the unit.
It would be awesome to get the code off the NDS card. (Not that I could do anything with it.) But I'm sure someone could.

Also saw this over at Ars.

Soul Coughing, "True Dreams of Wichita"

"("I don?t know who the fuck I am, to tell you the truth" sound bit)
Signal got lost to the satellite
Got lost in the
Rideup to the
Plungedown;
Man sends the ray of the electric light
Sends the impulse
Through the air
Down to home
And you can stand
On the arms
Of the Williamsburg Bridge
Crying
Hey man, well this is Babylon
And you can fire out on a bus
To the outside world
Down to Louisiana
You can take her with you
I've seen the
Rains of the real world
Come forward on the plain
I've seen the Kansas of your sweet little myth
You've never seen it, no,
I'm half sick on the drinks you mixed
Through your
True dreams
Of Wichita
Brooklyn like a sea in the asphalt stalks
Push out dead air from a parking garage
Where you stand with the keys and your cool hat of silence
Where you grip her love like a driver's liscense
I've seen you
Fire up the gas in the engine valves
I've seen your hand turn saintly on the radio dial
I've seen the airwaves
Pull your eyes towards heaven
Outside Topeka in the phone lines
Her good teeth smile was winding down
Engine sputters ghosts out of gasoline fumes
They say You had it, but you sold it
You didn't want it, no
I'm half drunk on static you transmit
Through your
True dreams
Of Wichita
(freestyle verse)
Punch it
I got, uh, fed
I got, uh, too much things on bounce, uh, my head
I got to burn 'em up
I got to burn 'em up now
I got to go uptown, uptown
I got a thing
I got a little bit pushed
got to stand on the corner and bellow for mush
I got a bomb
I got a baby bomb bomb
got to stand on the corner and bellow for my friend Tom
I got a thing, I got to thing it
I got to thing--team
I got to run my side
true dreams "

The iPod is so cool! I can dump albums and songs that I've been meaning to listen to, but usually don't get a chance to. It is amazing how you listen and find different songs while listening to them on headphones as apposed to on regular speakers.
Like the little Soul Coughing gem I found earlier today.
Why would Soul Coughing a New York based band write a song with Wichita and Kansas references? Check the references in the lyrics.
Good song by the way, good grooving track, with basic percussion, bass, and piano, with little blurbs of different sounds such a car honking and other little bleeps, and sound bits that are to muffled to hear are strung across the track as well.

Apple Introduces Boot Camp

"Apple has no desire or plan to sell or support Windows, but many customers have expressed their interest to run Windows on Apple?s superior hardware now that we use Intel processors,? said Philip Schiller, Apple?s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. ?We think Boot Camp makes the Mac even more appealing to Windows users considering making the switch."

A very nice move on Apple's part. Now you can boot Windows XP on your Mac. Now if only they would sell OSX to run on non Mac hardware!

OnMac.net posted the solution, to do this unofficially a few weeks back. Giving prize money of 13,000+ to narf and blanka after hacking a way to boot XP on an Intel Mac. Did OnMac's efforts help pursued Apple to officially support dual booting?

Ohio town spits fire over Mario question cube "attack"

"Unfortunately that didn't stop the HAZMAT and Fire Department crews from stepping in to defuse the situation, so to speak, and for it the five girls could face serious criminal charges. Too bad, because if those guys would have just jumped up and hit them from beneath they might instead have walked away with a sweet power-up (or an extra man)."
Some teenage girls pulling a April Fool's joke are in trouble after placing Mario ? boxes around town.

Other examples of Mario related decorating can be found at poster child's website.

Countless Dens of Uncatchable Thieves

Saw this over at Boing Boing.
An interesting insight into criminal?s usage of the internet. You know all those crazy e-mails that we receive in our inboxes.

"Even Operation Firewall, the Secret Service sledgehammer that managed to infiltrate and shatter the largest English-language crime board, Shadowcrew.com, in October 2004, has done little, two years later, to slow the global data trade."
