Blanc Burgers & Bottles -- Kansas City, MO (Westport)

Blanc Burgers & Bottles a gourmet burger joint in Wesport, that just opened last Spring is an excellent place to go for a good burger.  Great food, Clean interior, with cool decor (I really like the wallpaper in the batheroom) and long beer list.
What else could you ask for?  Well if your looking for a excellent tasting burger, drive right past the yuppies at Power & Lame District and head right on over to the tried and true Wesport area of the city.

What is on the menu?  Burgers, in various forms Beef, Pork, Fish, and Veggie.
I myself had the AU POIVRE Pepper-crusted burger, watercress, creamy green peppercorn sauce, grilled onions, salt + pepper brioche bun. and April had the CLASSIC aged NY white cheddar, tomato, homemade pickles, red onio made-from-scratch ketchup + mustard, sesame brioche bun.

Overall this place was a good experience.  Great friendly staff that is very proud of what is served at the restaurant. I've never had a waiter go over my menu for me at a burger joint.  The explanations were informative, and allowed me to narrow down my choice.  My only complaint would be the prices of beverages and the fact that most come bottles, even your every day Diet Coke.  So a single beverage purchase of $2.00+ for a single 8oz. beverage is a little much. I can understand for the specialty pops but not for everyday pops.  Also beer prices a tad high.  $4+ plus for a Boulevard, a tad much for my taste, I mean the stuff is just made down the street, and Boulevard is usually a tad cheaper at non franchise type of places.  I mean in L-Town you can grab a Boulevard for 2.50-3.50 from place to place.
But back to the good news, I highly recommend this place, the condiments served with the meal are worth the drive over to Westport, I'm serious, they are made in house!
Great job, nice atmosphere, minimalist with some mod style furniture, my kind of place.
Look forward to visiting again.
Check out what April thought of the place.

The Bender Brewer Project

Image owned by original author http://www.asciimation.co.nz/bender/

"Good news, everyone! Here is a story about building my very own Bender. This, as everyone should know, is the foul mouthed, cigar smoking, booze drinking, shiny metal arsed, bending robot from the programme Futurama."

This is freaking awesome. A Bender robot that has a built-in compartment to brew beer. Also the person built a computer out of old parts to make Bender talk. The person even uses a 6502 processor, which is referenced in Futurama as Bender's own processor.
Some people just have to much time on their hands.

Fact of Myth: Keystone or Coors? - Pulp

This gift has now been brought into question by many brew drinkers. Is Keystone Light really divine intervention or simply the Coors Brewing Company's method of damaged goods disposal? Fact or myth: Is Keystone Light just dented Coors Light cans?

I found this link over at the Wikpedia article for Keystone Light. Being a drinker of Keystone Light, but hating Coors Light I find this article somewhat funny. First of all I don't think Coors would go through the pain of reprinting labels of damaged Coors cans. But who knows? I will have to start inspecting my cans of Keystone Light to see if they have an unusual amount of cosmetic defects.

Boing Boing: Happy hour food and drinks on Google Maps

appyHour lets you scope out and plan your pub crawl before you leave the house or office. It includes happy hours (if available), drink specials, and even food to pour your beer on top of. It has many American cities and a couple of international ones (Sydney, Melbourne).

Not much info for Kansas City, KS yet. The map still has McBride's listed which is no longer.
