Blanc Burgers & Bottles -- Kansas City, MO (Westport)

Blanc Burgers & Bottles a gourmet burger joint in Wesport, that just opened last Spring is an excellent place to go for a good burger.  Great food, Clean interior, with cool decor (I really like the wallpaper in the batheroom) and long beer list.
What else could you ask for?  Well if your looking for a excellent tasting burger, drive right past the yuppies at Power & Lame District and head right on over to the tried and true Wesport area of the city.

What is on the menu?  Burgers, in various forms Beef, Pork, Fish, and Veggie.
I myself had the AU POIVRE Pepper-crusted burger, watercress, creamy green peppercorn sauce, grilled onions, salt + pepper brioche bun. and April had the CLASSIC aged NY white cheddar, tomato, homemade pickles, red onio made-from-scratch ketchup + mustard, sesame brioche bun.

Overall this place was a good experience.  Great friendly staff that is very proud of what is served at the restaurant. I've never had a waiter go over my menu for me at a burger joint.  The explanations were informative, and allowed me to narrow down my choice.  My only complaint would be the prices of beverages and the fact that most come bottles, even your every day Diet Coke.  So a single beverage purchase of $2.00+ for a single 8oz. beverage is a little much. I can understand for the specialty pops but not for everyday pops.  Also beer prices a tad high.  $4+ plus for a Boulevard, a tad much for my taste, I mean the stuff is just made down the street, and Boulevard is usually a tad cheaper at non franchise type of places.  I mean in L-Town you can grab a Boulevard for 2.50-3.50 from place to place.
But back to the good news, I highly recommend this place, the condiments served with the meal are worth the drive over to Westport, I'm serious, they are made in house!
Great job, nice atmosphere, minimalist with some mod style furniture, my kind of place.
Look forward to visiting again.
Check out what April thought of the place.

Twist an Urban Eatery Review

April and I had lunch today at Twist, a funky eatery downtown on the edge of the Crossroads district just down from the Sprint Center.
Not a bad little place, awesome decor. I would really love to have the orange couches that are at the front of the restaurant. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is clean and moddish. (for some reason, I really liked the forks and knifes) It was entertaining to view the items around, and the plastic chairs that match the orange couches are awesome. The art on the other hand is a bit disappointing, and a little too Urban Outfitterish for my taste.

Anyways, onto the food April had Chicken Salad Sandwich with French Fries, which she really enjoyed though it could have had more of the mayonnaise mixture. I myself had Salmon Grilled Sandwich and Wasabi Mashers, which both were very good as well! The only complaint we shared was the grill marks on our sandwiches were a little too harsh on the burnt taste side of things.

Great place, and need to go back to sample some more of the food, and to see how their Martinis are. Props for great food, from such a young chief.

This T-shirt can make a statement

The news last month that a famous hotel chain had teamed up with one of the casino proposals got me excited about being able to wear a T-shirt that declares: 'Hard Rock -- Kansas City, KS.'

But if the Kansas Lottery Commission chooses the Kansas Speedway casino proposal and a Hard Rock hotel is built here, will the shirts and knickknacks read 'Hard Rock -- Kansas City'?

To some, such semantics wouldn't matter; to others, a minor detail. To me, and I would venture to say other Kansas City, Kan., natives, the details are a big deal.

Hell yeah it is a big deal of the T-shirt reads Kansas City, or Kansas City, KS. For years I have always hated when bands play out at Sandstone and put Kansas City, MO on the back of their T-Shirts, Pearl Jam being one that I can recall. Someone on the council should make a deal that if the casino does come with the Hard Rock Cafe, that the only way that it can build in KCK is if they put Kansa City, KS on the T-shirts.

Just as all those bankrupt crack-heads that live down south declare they live in Kansa City, you live in Overland Park or Olathe, but not the city Kansas City. For some reason that if you make weekend trips to the "Plauza" that you can declare that you live in the city of Kansas City. Yes you live in the Metropolitan area, but get your cities name correct.
