Blanc Burgers & Bottles -- Kansas City, MO (Westport)

Blanc Burgers & Bottles a gourmet burger joint in Wesport, that just opened last Spring is an excellent place to go for a good burger.  Great food, Clean interior, with cool decor (I really like the wallpaper in the batheroom) and long beer list.
What else could you ask for?  Well if your looking for a excellent tasting burger, drive right past the yuppies at Power & Lame District and head right on over to the tried and true Wesport area of the city.

What is on the menu?  Burgers, in various forms Beef, Pork, Fish, and Veggie.
I myself had the AU POIVRE Pepper-crusted burger, watercress, creamy green peppercorn sauce, grilled onions, salt + pepper brioche bun. and April had the CLASSIC aged NY white cheddar, tomato, homemade pickles, red onio made-from-scratch ketchup + mustard, sesame brioche bun.

Overall this place was a good experience.  Great friendly staff that is very proud of what is served at the restaurant. I've never had a waiter go over my menu for me at a burger joint.  The explanations were informative, and allowed me to narrow down my choice.  My only complaint would be the prices of beverages and the fact that most come bottles, even your every day Diet Coke.  So a single beverage purchase of $2.00+ for a single 8oz. beverage is a little much. I can understand for the specialty pops but not for everyday pops.  Also beer prices a tad high.  $4+ plus for a Boulevard, a tad much for my taste, I mean the stuff is just made down the street, and Boulevard is usually a tad cheaper at non franchise type of places.  I mean in L-Town you can grab a Boulevard for 2.50-3.50 from place to place.
But back to the good news, I highly recommend this place, the condiments served with the meal are worth the drive over to Westport, I'm serious, they are made in house!
Great job, nice atmosphere, minimalist with some mod style furniture, my kind of place.
Look forward to visiting again.
Check out what April thought of the place.

Food for Thought: Measuring Soft Drinks' Jolt, Science News Online, Aug. 25, 2007

My last "Food for Thought" column noted that elderly women may keep their wits longer by drinking lots of caffeine. In that study, the women derived their caffeine from coffee and tea. A new study offers some guidance for Golden Girls who eschew the standard caffeinated brews but still want to reap some benefit from the stimulant. Many soft drinks contain caffeine, but how much of a jolt they deliver is seldom printed on the label.

Link to a chart that shows caffeine content of diffrent pops. Good to know.
I find it odd that Jolt Cola is not on the list.
Maybe I should start drinking Diet RC, since it is cheaper and has more caffeine than Diet Coke. Also no mention of the new Diet Pepsi Max.
