ABOUT ME

I am a graphic designer in training currently enrolled at Johnson County Community College. I have been studying graphic design since my freshman year of high school. I began to take a liking to design after becoming more interested in music, always liking to look at the album covers. When I started collecting vinyl, it made it easier to appreciate the details of all the artwork. I've always been inspired by the work of the artists that often get overshadowed by the musicians. A few of my biggest design inspirations include:

GET TO KNOW THE ARTIST

I was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 2000. My first language is technically Spanish, but I moved to the US when I was five and had to learn English as a primary language, so I forgot almost all of my Spanish. My family moved to Olathe, Kansas because my parents had some relatives already living here. I basically grew up in Olathe and all the memories I have from my childhood come from this city.

Music is one of my biggest passions (if you couldn't tell). I grew up in a relatively musical family. My dad played guitar in the church band, my sister was a singer in her high school choir, and my brother plays all kinds of percussion instruments. I have a bit of a classical background, playing violin in my middle school's orchestra. Nowadays though, I'll be playing more contemporary stuff. I play some guitar and bass guitar, as well as sing (mostly to myself, though). I've never been part of a band or made my own music, but I'm hoping to change that someday.

MY BACKGROUND

The high school I went to had a program called 21st Century, which was a set of classes designed to help students get a kickstart on certain careers. One of the classes was called eCommunication, which focused on graphic design, web design, video production, and animation. I had originally joined the program to learn how to create video games, but I learned that it wasn't something the curriculum covered. Luckily for me, I quickly began to take a liking to graphic design and it stuck throughout the rest of my high school career, now into college.
